大容量連続書き込み＆サーマルスロットリング検証
パッケージを開封すると、マットブラックの基板に幾何学的なデザインが施されたアルミ製ヒートシンクがあらかじめ装着された状態で姿を現す。寸法はM.2 2280規格に準拠しており、デスクトップPCのマザーボードやPlayStation 5の拡張スロットにも物理干渉することなくスムーズに収まる設計だ。ヒートシンク自体の重量感も適度にいかされており、指で触れた際の金属特有の冷涼感と工作精度の高さがうかがえる。化学薬品のような不快な匂いも一切なく、このあたりの製造品質は近年のサクラ度15%という一般水準データ通り、非常にまっとうな印象を受ける。
実機に組み込み、まずはCrystalDiskMark等のベンチマークソフトを用いて単体の最高速度を計測した。公称値とされる読込速度7000MB/sクラスは伊達ではなく、PCIe 4.0×4の帯域幅を限界近くまで引き出している。問題となるのは、SLCキャッシュ容量を超過するような500GB規模の大容量連続書き込みだ。僕の検証環境において、約300GBを超えたあたりからNANDフラッシュメモリの直書き領域へ移行し、書き込み速度が一時的に低下する挙動が確認できた。とはいえ、これはTLC/QLCを採用するNVMe SSDの構造上避けて通れない仕様であり、日常的なゲームロードや動画素材の読み出しにおいてはこの速度低下が表面化することはまずない。
発熱管理の要となる付属ヒートシンクの効果も検証した。負荷テストを20分間継続したところ、コントローラー温度は最大で68度付近に達したものの、サーマルスロットリングによる極端な性能低下やシステムクラッシュは発生しなかった。マザーボード側の標準ヒートシンクを使用せずとも、製品付属のパーツ単体で実用的な温度域にしっかりと収まる点は評価に値する。基板の反りやコネクタ部の接触不良といった初期不良の兆候もなく、端子部分の金メッキ処理も均一で耐久性への配慮が感じられる仕上がりとなっている。
購入前に確認しておきたい留意点
実用上のメリットが大きい一方で、購入前に把握しておくべきウィークポイントも存在する。最大の懸念は、国内大手メーカーと比較した場合のサポート体制の透明性だ。マーケットプレイスを介した流通が中心となるため、万が一の故障時における代理店対応やRMA手続きのプロセスは事前に確認しておく必要がある。TBW（総書き込み容量）の数値についても、同価格帯の競合大手製品と比較してやや保守的な設定となっているため、日頃からテラバイト単位の書き換えを頻繁に行うクリエイティブ用途よりも、大容量ゲームライブラリの保管やOS起動ドライブとしての活用に割り切るのが賢明だ。
また、付属のヒートシンクは取り外しがやや硬い構造になっている。もしノートPCや一部の狭小スペースに組み込むためにヒートシンクを剥がす必要がある場合、基板上のコンポーネントを傷つけるリスクがあるため注意したい。最初からデスクトップPCのM.2スロットにそのまま挿して使う前提であれば問題はないが、製品の形状的な制約として記憶しておいて損はない。
