実機の質感・日常の使い勝手と仕様検証
Microsoftから、実売約53,980円でSurface Pro 7が登場した。主な特徴は、第10世代Coreプロセッサを搭載しつつ、価格を抑えたコストパフォーマンスの高さと、シリーズお馴染みの堅牢なマグネシウム合金ボディにある。実際にパッケージを開封すると、マットなシルバー仕上げの筐体が姿を現す。表面の微細なブラスト加工はサラッとした手触りで、指紋が目立ちにくい実用的な仕上がりだ。本体サイズは約292×201×8.5mm、重量は約775g（タイプカバー除く）となっており、カバンへの収まりが良い薄型軽量設計を維持している。

実際に数日間、文書作成やブラウザでの資料閲覧、動画視聴などの日常的なワークロードで運用したところ、ファンレス設計ではないCore i5搭載モデル（または下位構成）において熱処理挙動が明確に確認できた。筐体背面の上部中央付近が発熱源となっており、長時間の連続高負荷処理時には表面温度が上昇する。これに伴いCPUのクロック周波数が一時的に抑制されるサーマルスロットリングが発生するため、動画編集や重量級のゲーム用途をメインにするマシンとしては性能の限界を把握しておく必要がある。
また、充電仕様についても触れておく。付属の電源アダプターは専用端子を使用するが、USB Type-CポートからのUSB Power Delivery（USB-PD）給電にも対応している。ただし、60W以上の出力を持つPD充電器と適切なeMarker付きケーブルを使用しないと、充電速度が著しく低下するか、最悪の場合は給電不足エラーになる。モバイルバッテリーを活用して外出先で運用する場合は、手持ちの充電器の仕様を事前に確認することが必須となる。
